Aren't matroyshka dolls the most charming little things? I could probably trace my love for European folk art back to the time my sweet mom brought one home for me as a gift.
She'd been on a trip to Ukraine and came home bursting at the seams with souvenirs for us - my eyes gleamed when she pulled out the shiny little dolly and handed it to me. I put it on my shelf and admired it daily, the vibrant colors and perfectly dainty paint strokes were so intricate and lovely.
That dolly is long gone now, but I find myself inherently trying to infuse the charm and whimsy I discovered in that matroyshka doll into everything I make.
